WHAT DO WE TRAIN?
SELF DEFENCE SYSTEM ISDS
ISDS2.png

The Intensive Self Defence System (ISDS) is a modern eclectic self-defence system, developed in Belgium in 1980 by Sifu P. Van Vlasselaer, with a strong focus on real-based street defence applications.

The system analyses and brings together principles and techniques from several martial arts systems and adapts them to situations and problems a person may encounter today: in the street, at home, in a car or in other everyday environments.

ISDS is not limited to self-defence techniques alone. The system also incorporates fighting techniques, anatomical and physiological principles, psychological aspects of human behaviour, and a philosophical approach that can be applied in daily life.

Self-defence is always approached within the context of Belgian law.

SYSTEMS & STYLES

The following systems and styles are discussed and trained:

Judo · Karate · Aikido · Intensive Self Defence System · Shooto · Thai Boxing · Wing Chun Kung Fu · Brazilian Jiujitsu · Filipino Martial Arts (Kali, Escrima & Silat) · Western Boxing · Jun Fan Gung Fu · Jeet Kune Do concept

Through these different influences, students develop a broad understanding of self-defence and fighting rather than training within only one martial arts style.

TRAINING UNIFORM

For newcomers, regular sports clothing is sufficient during the first period of training.

The ISDS school uniform, consisting of the school T-shirt and school sweatpants, should be worn after a maximum of three months of training.

A white Gi (fighting kimono) is additionally used for specific parts of the training.
